Orthodontics/Braces
Crooked or crowded teeth can be straightened over a period that may last a few weeks to a couple of years. Depending on your particular case there are various types of brace available, the most recent has been the appearance of clear braces (Clearstep) on the market which are virtually un-noticable and can correct most alignment problems. However, fixed braces 'train tracks' are an excellent way to correct misalignment of teeth
Bonding
Bonding involves using white composite filling material to correct defects in teeth or even gaps between teeth, the process is usually quick and requires no drilling into the tooth thereby saving healthy enamel.
Veneers
Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that can be used to correct the shape, shade, contour and alignment of teeth. The results are the most natural you can acheive and they last up to 15 years, however in most cases to allow a veneer to seat on the tooth approximately 0.5 - 1mm of enamel must be removed from the tooth.
White Fillings
Many people have had silver mercury fillings placed in the past and are ashamed to smile because of the grey/black colour. White composite fillings can replace these and make your teeth look natural again.
Whitening
Whitening of teeth is becoming more and more common and if you are concerned about the colour of your teeth it is the best, most safe and conservative way of getting them brighter. Both in-house and home-whitening involve the use of hydrogen peroxide to lighten your teeth.
Implants
Implants have a very high success rate and are accepted as the gold standard method of tooth replacment. The process involves placing a titanium fixture into bone which can support a crown, bridge or denture.
Bridges
A bridge uses teeth either side of a missing space to support false teeth. Conventional bridges require the supporting teeth to be made smaller which involves removing tooth structure. However both the 'maryland' and 'fibre-bond' bridges are much kinder to teeth. All provide natural results.
Dentures
Dentures can be used to replace one or more missing teeth and are generally made from acrylic or chrome. Chrome dentures are accepted as being better for your teeth and gums in the long run than acrylic dentures.
Home Dental Hygiene
The main dental cause of bad breath is gingivitis (gum disease) which is primarily caused by plaque not being cleaned off the teeth effectively enough. This results in the bacteria breaking down food and debris in our mouth resulting in sulphur products. By brushing, flossing and mouth washing effectively the majority of cases are resolved. Other reasons for bad breath include eating highly flavoured foods (garlic, curries, coffee) however other medical problems may also be responsible.
Hygienist/Therapist
Visiting the hygienist will mean that you will be able to remove any hardened tartar that may be worsening your gum health and also to discuss and remove any other contributing factors that may be contributing towards gum disease. The hygienist will give you a personalised routine to follow so that you can prevent ever having dental disease.
Mr T
Mr T. Didn't like the crowded appearance of his front teeth and also wanted them to be brighter.
Although he had braces when he was younger his upper teeth relapsed and he did not want to go through orthodontics again.
To get his teeth whiter and straighter Mr T. underwent home whitening and four upper porcelain veneers .
Mr S
Mr S. Didn't like the crowded appearance of his front teeth which had been restored in the past with metal ceramic crowns that leave black lines by the gum.
To correct the crowding and dark lines Mr S. was provided with two all porcelain crowns and two composite veneers.
Mrs F
Mrs F. Didn't like the worn and stained appearance of her two upper front teeth, caused by wear and tear.
To improve the appearance she was provided with two upper porcelain veneers.
Mrs O
Mrs O. lost two lower teeth due to chronic gum disease. She was treated for this initially and once the disease had stabilised she was provided with two dental implants to replace the two lost teeth.
